WPA Paddle Board Instructor Certification

World Paddle Association – WPA – Paddle Board Instructor Certification Classes ***

We offer World Paddle Association (WPA) Certification Classes designed for people with prior paddle boarding and teaching experience who want to get certified to teach others to paddle board. We will spend some fun time on the water evaluating your current skills and fine tuning your paddle boarding technique. Coach Sheree teaches from her WPA training and includes PaddleFit technique and drills since she is certified in both training techniques. We will cover teaching skills, drills, warm ups with paddling safety and rescue training in a private to semi private waterfront setting for 1 to 6 people.

WPA Instructor Level I SUP Certification Detailed Outline

  1. 2-4 hours pre-class book work by student at home
  2. 2 hours on Zoom with instructor to go over book and test in advance of on the water class day. This may be done in person day of class or evening before water time.
  3. 5 hours on the water instruction as required by WPA (see details below and visit the WPA website to read more about the WPA Instructor Certifications – click here.

*This package is for people who need more training time. There may be multiple reasons more time is needed. Examples might be that student is new to teaching, new to paddling, learns at a different pace, inclusion of SUP Yoga, or student is interested in more advanced technique training including race training and other reasons.

Registration Requirements & Membership Details WPA Certification:

Upon passing the your 1st year WPA dues is included. After the first year dues are $49 and renewal with WPA is required to maintain instructor status. The course includes 5 hours of on-water instruction, 2 – 4 Hours of book work and review on your own in advance and 2-3 hours of Zoom or in-person review of the WPA course content with WPA Level II Instructor Trainer, Sheree Lincoln, your coach. The option to meet by Zoom or Phone will allow you to choose a 1 day in-person training, if this meets your schedule better than 1-1/2 days of in person training. Passing Exam Grade is 80%.

Instructor requirements: First Aid and CPR certification, water sports liability insurance, 18 years of age and a minimum of 2 years of coaching experience (experience can be from coaching as a personal trainer, wake boarding, SUP, Fitness and other types of coaching).

What’s Included in the World Paddle Association Paddle Board Instructor Certification Class?

WPA Water Safety curriculum includes classroom and on water instruction as part of the water safety education classes include: Board and Equipment Purchasing, SUP Etiquette, Safety Planning, Injury Prevention, Water Dynamics, Basic Boating Laws, Board & Paddling Skills, Rescue techniques (towing pictured above) and Water Safety information. About Sea Dog Sup Nation of Certified Paddle Board Instructors

The mission of Sea Dog SUP Nation LLC is to provide an instructor paddling program for World Paddle Association (WPA) Certifications that will help instructors of Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) develop better paddlers. Our goal is for instructors and students to enjoy more time on the water, being fully engaged in the moment, and at the same time, reducing risks in a safe and efficient manner. WPA Certification Paddle Board Instructor Registration Details

When you register for the WPA Level I Certification class a deposit of $95 will be charged. You can pay the remainder the day of our class or I can send a link for the balance. I can also send you a link to pay for the entire class at one time if you prefer that.

A rain date will be planned after your initial deposit is made.

The WPA Level I Work Book, in PDF form will be emailed to you after your second payment so that you can start studying for test and be prepped for our Zoom Meeting.

***This is a WPA Certification not a PaddleFit Certification Class. We encourage all paddlers to get their PaddleFit Certification as well!

Please note the 1-1/2 day class can be fit into 1 long day or the book work can be done by zoom in advance. Also the 3 day group class can be fit into 2 days if your schedule requires it.
